Biography

Tomer Singer, M.D., FACOG, MBA, earned his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine, and his Master of Business Administration in Health Care Management from Hofstra Zarb School of Business. He completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, NY, where he also served as Chief Resident. He completed a reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, NY.

Dr. Tomer Singer is currently Associate Professor at Zucker School of Medicine, New York and former Vice Chairman of Education, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Lenox Hill Hospital. He also served as a residency program director in 2012-2019 training over 40 Ob/Gyn residents and many more medical students and fellows in reproductive medicine and medical endocrinology. In addition, as the director of egg freezing program at the Northwell Health system for 7 years he performed hundreds of medical egg freezing cycles for both cancer patients and women electively freezing their eggs.

Dr. Tomer Singer has produced numerous publications, chapter reviews and has given international and national presentations in the field of infertility and reproductive endocrinology, IVF, egg freezing and egg donation. He is double board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Singer has performed hundreds of minimal invasive surgical procedures including laparoscopies and hysteroscopies.

Q&A

I have wanted to become a doctor since I was 5. My parents struggled with infertility for years and my mom conceived after using injectable hormones and an artificial insemination. As a teenager I took a basic life support course, volunteered in hospitals and was fascinated by the power of medicine in improving or curing medical conditions. My parents journey coupled with my early exposure to medicine instilled in me the desire to become a doctor. During my medical school, I was immediately drawn to women’s health as it combined medical and surgical treatment and the option of empowering patients by educating them and discussing with them different topics beginning in their menstrual cycle and their reproductive options.

I love science and working with people so naturally, I am drawn to the fascinating fields of Reproductive medicine which had evolved tremendously since the first IVF baby was born in 1978. Being able to help women achieve their reproductive goals and their dreams of parenthood is both humbling and rewarding as a doctor.

I love music, tennis, playing the guitar, scuba diving, traveling, and spending time with my wife and our three kids. I have traveled to Asia, Europe, South America and Africa and love meeting new people and new cultures, that’s why I enjoy living in such a diverse city as New York. As my patients and team members know, I love a good cup of coffee.

I recently took care of a wounded warrior Marine who was shot while serving in Iraq. Despite being paralyzed and in a wheelchair coping with his physical challenges, he was supporting his partner for 2 long years during her struggle with infertility. I have witnessed firsthand this journey helping them become a stronger couple and better parents to their daughter Valentina who was born via IVF.

I am inspired by many people. Mostly I am inspired by my patients who share their fertility stories and help other patients who just like them struggle. Two other people I am most inspired by are President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his wife Elenore Roosevelt. FDR, despite his physical challenges was able to achieve his goals, just like many of our infertility patients. Elenore on the other hand, complemented FDR by providing the emotional and psychological support people need (and sometimes failed to acknowledge) when faced with a challenge.

My approach is to listen to the patients, empathize with their struggle and work together towards the achieving their goals while treating them as I would with a friend or a family.


I am always optimistic and try to address my patients concerns and fears in a very transparent way providing them with the facts but also with the info and tools that will allow them to make the best treatment choice. I try to support and empower my patients with the information they need to guide them in making the right medical decisions for them.

I am very excited to become a member of the Shady Grove Fertility team. There is a special culture of transparency and professionalism that instils confidence in both patients and employees, and makes you feel “I got to the right place”.

The team members are passionate, collegial and most importantly knowledgeable and supportive of our patients which helped this organization thrive and achieve the best clinical results while having the patients’ best interest always as the main focus.
